Install the SprintBrain Extension and Set Up Your Account

Install and pin the SprintBrain Chrome extension, sign in without a password, and learn every way to insert a snippet into any text field.

The SprintBrain Chrome extension is the engine that makes text expansion happen. It runs quietly in the background, watches for your configured triggers in any text field on any website, and expands your snippets the instant you press Tab. This page walks you through installation, sign-in, and every insertion method available.

Installation Steps

1. Open the Chrome Web Store page

   Go to the SprintBrain listing on the Chrome Web Store. Check that the extension ID in the URL matches khdpimdpkgmmaimpbfjgglnpaemmopoo — this confirms you are installing the official extension.

2. Add the extension to Chrome

   Click Add to Chrome. A dialog lists the permissions the extension needs. Click Add extension to confirm.

   SprintBrain requests storage (to cache your library for offline expansion), activeTab (to send snippets to the focused page), contextMenus (to build the right-click insertion menu), and alarms (to schedule background Notion sync every five minutes). Host access to <all_urls> is required because snippets must expand in any text field on any website — restricting to a fixed list of domains would make the core feature non-functional.

3. Pin the extension to your toolbar

   Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon on the right side of the Chrome toolbar. Find SprintBrain in the list and click the pin icon next to it. The SprintBrain icon will appear permanently in your toolbar so you can open the popup with one click.

4. Sign in — no password needed

   Click the SprintBrain icon in your toolbar and follow the sign-in prompt, or go directly to app.sprintbrain.com.

   Enter your email address. SprintBrain sends you two things simultaneously:

   • A magic link — click it in your email to sign in instantly in the same browser.
   • A 6-digit one-time code — type it into the code field on the sign-in page to verify without leaving the tab.

   No password is stored or required. Check your spam folder if the email does not arrive within a minute.

Linking the Extension to Your Dashboard

You only need to sign in once. When you sign in at app.sprintbrain.com, the dashboard passes a session token directly to the extension automatically. The extension establishes its own independent session — no second login, no copy-pasting tokens.

This means your snippet library, team folders, and Notion sync credentials are all available in the extension the moment you sign in on the web.

Expansion Methods

SprintBrain offers four ways to insert a snippet, so you can pick the one that fits the moment:

1. Type trigger + shortcut key + Tab

This is the fastest method and works in virtually every text field on every website. Type your trigger prefix followed by the snippet shortcut (for example /hello), then press Tab. The trigger disappears and the full snippet text replaces it instantly.

If the snippet contains dynamic fields like {formtext:}, {formdate:}, or {formmenu:}, an inline overlay opens and asks for the values. If it contains live formulas, the calculated results appear in the finished text. Press Tab again to confirm each field and complete the expansion.

2. Right-click context menu

Right-click any focused text field to open the browser context menu. SprintBrain adds a submenu that mirrors your folder structure exactly — folders become submenus, and snippets appear as clickable items inside them. If a snippet has multi-language variants, a second level of submenus lets you pick the language at insertion time.

This method is useful when you want to browse your library visually rather than remember a trigger.

3. Select text to get snippet suggestions

Select a word or phrase in any text field. SprintBrain shows a small suggestion menu anchored to the selection, listing snippets that match the selected text. Click a suggestion and it replaces the selection with the full expanded snippet.

This is ideal for upgrading rough draft text — select a placeholder phrase, then pick the polished snippet that should replace it.

4. Open the popup, search, fill fields, and copy

Click the SprintBrain icon in your toolbar to open the popup. Search your library by name, trigger, or content. When you find the snippet you want, fill in any dynamic fields directly in the popup, then copy the finished text to your clipboard. Paste it wherever you need it.

This method works in any context where in-place expansion is not possible — PDF viewers, native desktop apps, or any field that blocks keyboard event interception.

Keyboard Shortcut

Press Ctrl+Shift+M (Windows / Linux) or Cmd+Shift+M (Mac) to open the SprintBrain memory panel directly. The memory panel lets you add content to the message you are currently writing without leaving the text field.

You can verify or reassign this shortcut in Chrome by going to chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Browser requirement: SprintBrain’s text expansion runs inside the Chrome extension and requires the Google Chrome desktop browser (or a Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions). The extension does not support Firefox, Safari, or Edge at this time.

If you are on a mobile device, you can still access your full snippet and prompt library at app.sprintbrain.com in any mobile browser — no installation needed. Search your library and copy snippets to paste wherever you need them.

The extension does not auto-update while Chrome is running. If you just installed a new version of SprintBrain and your changes are not appearing, Chrome may still be running the previous version. To force an immediate reload, go to chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode in the top-right corner, and click Update. You can then disable Developer mode again. A full Chrome restart also picks up the latest version.
